The days are now perfect temperature for a more active visit to Rutherglen. The Wahgunyah to Rutherglen section of the Murray to Mountains Rail Trail is just moments from the B&B and is the perfect playground for cycling or walking to the local wineries.
The evenings give themselves to us with delicious cool evening air, just perfect to enjoy a vino on the front verandah at the B&B.
On occasion I am blessed with fun-loving guests who’re up for some larrikin time...such a time was yesterday. Two couples, unknown to each other but both B&B staying mid-week (best time to visit) joined forces and booked up Lil’ Tipsy wine tours for a sesh around the Rutherglen wine region. After their morning of cellar door visits I joined them all for lunch at Lake Moodemere Estate vineyard for lunch at Lakeside. Following a delicious meal and loads of laughter we headed to final cellar door of the day, Andrew Buller wines. A perfect finish and a return to the B&B to enjoy canapés and some further drinks.
Freshly broken out of Australian Quarantine was our handsome fur-guest Harry. Harry is from the UK, planning to call Australia home with his human-parents Gavin & Jeff. Good luck Harry, and welcome to Australia.
Within half hours drive of Rutherglen you can be heading out on over a hundred dedicated walking tracks in the Chiltern-Mt Pilot NP, the Warby’s, Beechworth Gorge and so it goes...last Saturday the weather was perfect for the gorge walk. Naturally it led me to afternoon tea at Billsons Brewery in Beechworth.
