It’s always a treat to receive a extra special thank you from my guests. I thank you back Wilhelmina, Terry & Jan for choosing to stay at La Maison St Arnaud once again.
The Precipice offers excellent views over the former Reid’s Creek Goldfields.
Today’s hike started off a Billsons Brewery in Beechworth. After a quick coffee and a 10 minute walk down Camp Street I reached the Powder Magazine carpark. Off the carpark there’s a trail head clearly signposted for The Precipice.
The trail offers hikers a variety of terrain. Training for my upcoming Kumano Kodo pilgrimage (Japan) it had loads of uphill stepping stones, tree roots, uneven ground, mossy granite and rocky outcrops.
Returning via the same trail provided steep decline to strengthen my ankles and quad muscles.
The entire hike took 2hrs 15 minutes with short breaks to admire the views. This is not a strenuous hike however a good level of fitness would help as it’s close to 10kms.
Return to Billsons and enjoy an ale or cake and coffee.
Something of a tradition now the ubiquitous fire pit evening was enjoyed by the guests. A great time for me to relax and socialise with my lovely guests and hear all about the WW daily shenanigans.
